Our Story · IFBB Nordic Academy

I built IFBB Nordic Academy to close the gap between science and coaching.

I never planned to build an academy. My journey began with a simple passion for coaching and a desire to help people become better than they were yesterday. But after years of working with physique athletes, coaches and competitors, I kept seeing the same problem: too many important coaching decisions were still based on fragmented information, tradition, social media opinions and guesswork.

The question that changed everything How can we expect athletes to reach their full potential if coaches are not given access to the best available knowledge?
Evidence before opinion: coaching decisions should be built on science, experience and the individual athlete.
Athlete welfare first: great coaching protects health, confidence and long-term development.
Higher standards for our sport: because great athletes deserve great coaches.
Internationally connected: our education is part of the IFBB system, recognized across sport, coaching and education organizations worldwide.

From my perspective

This is the story of why IFBB Nordic Academy exists: to bring scientific knowledge, practical coaching and professional standards together for the future of fitness and bodybuilding.

Why IFBB Nordic Academy Exists

For years, I saw two worlds that rarely spoke the same language.

One world was science. The other was practice.

Researchers were producing valuable knowledge about training, nutrition, recovery, physiology, athlete monitoring and competition preparation. At the same time, coaches were solving real problems every day in gyms, backstage areas, online check-ins and contest preparation phases.

But too often, these two worlds remained separated. The knowledge existed, but it did not always reach the coaches and athletes who needed it most.

The problem was not a lack of passion. Fitness and bodybuilding are full of people who care deeply. Coaches want to help. Athletes want to improve. But passion alone is not enough when the decisions we make can affect an athlete’s health, confidence, performance and future.

Coaching is much more than giving a plan.

Over more than 16 years in coaching, I learned that a coach is never just a person who writes a training program or a nutrition plan.

A coach is a decision-maker. A mentor. A guide. A voice of reason when the athlete cannot see the full picture anymore.

This becomes especially clear in physique sports. During competition preparation, an athlete may be tired, hungry, emotional, focused, uncertain and under pressure. In those moments, the coach must know when to push forward and when to pull back.

Good coaching can protect an athlete. Poor coaching can do real damage.

Where research became a mission.

My academic work in physique sports began at the University of Jyväskylä, where I started researching bodybuilding and fitness athletes. What began as scientific curiosity became a mission to understand what really happens inside the human body during contest preparation, peak week, recovery and long-term athlete development.

I became convinced that the future of coaching cannot belong to science alone. It cannot belong to experience alone either.

The future belongs to coaches who can combine both.

That is why IFBB Nordic Academy was created. To close the gap between science and practice. To give coaches a structured educational pathway. To raise professional standards. And to help athletes trust that the person guiding them has the knowledge, competence and integrity to help them succeed.

Every athlete deserves a competent coach.

IFBB Nordic Academy was founded on one simple belief:

Every athlete deserves a competent coach.

Not a coach who blindly follows tradition. Not a coach who copies what worked for someone else twenty years ago. Not a coach who follows every new trend without questioning it.

But a coach who understands how to think. A coach who understands evidence. A coach who understands people.

From the beginning, my goal was not to create just another online course platform. My goal was to build an educational system that helps coaches develop real competence, professional confidence and a deeper sense of responsibility.

Mission · Vision · Purpose

We educate coaches who understand both science and people.

Better education creates better coaches. Better coaches create better outcomes. Not only better physiques, but better health, better performance, better experiences and a stronger future for fitness and bodybuilding.

Our Mission

To close the gap between academic sport science and practical coaching by providing evidence-based education for fitness and bodybuilding coaches, athletes and professionals.

Our Goal

To professionalize fitness and bodybuilding coaching by creating a clear educational pathway, stronger standards and a deeper understanding of training, nutrition, recovery and athlete development.

Our Purpose

To build a coaching culture where evidence matters, athlete welfare comes first and coaches never stop learning.

What Sets Us Apart

We are not just another online coaching course.

What makes IFBB Nordic Academy different is that our education is connected to the international IFBB system — a global federation structure with deep roots in sport, education, clean sport and athlete development.

The International Fitness and Bodybuilding Federation was founded in 1946 and has grown into one of the largest and most active international sport federations in the world, with 204 affiliated nations and more than 8,000 events organized every year.

Through the IFBB Academy education pathway, our students are not studying inside an isolated private system. They are developing within a broader international framework that values science, coaching standards, fair play, clean sport and professional education.

Recognition creates responsibility. For me, this matters because coaching education should not be built on trends alone. It should stand on a foundation connected to sport organizations, educational institutions, coaching excellence and the long-term development of athletes.
